Moms need more protein!
I think it's easy to say, we could all use a little more protein and whole foods in our diet! GUITLY of not getting enough of both, and ALWAYS working on sneaking in more! Ya feel me? I wanted to share with you my fav protein shake packed full of flavor and gut-health!
One of the main reasons I love starting my day with a protein shake is because it keeps me full and satisfied, if I get the slightest twinge of hunger...especially while breastfeeding now, WATCH OUT haha! Protein is known to be a macronutrient that takes longer to digest, which means it helps me feel fuller for longer periods of time...and did you know a breast feeding mama needs 18-25 grams more of protein JUST to feed their baby?! I read a blog post that crunched the numbers and I should be getting 69-136 grams of protein a day right now in this season of life! I linked it above if you want to check it out!
Not to get into it too much but...your body needs protein to build and repair muscles, and let's just say childbirth definitely requires rebuilding of the body too... Starting your day as a meal replacement or even adding to your breakfast, a protein shake can help kickstart the muscle-building process and provide your body with the necessary nutrients to repair any damage from previous workouts.
Finding balance that is RIGHT FOR YOU is the goal, and giving your gut the right nutrients to work happily and healthily and not focusing so much on what is "good" or "bad" food is always the key for me! As much as I love protein shakes to fill the gap, the only thing that works for any of us for the long-haul is what keeps us healthy...physically + mentally!!
